QUEBEC SELF-EMPLOYED PROGRAM FOR IMMIGRATION TO CANADA

The Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program enables eligible self-employed individuals to immigrate to Quebec and establish their own business. To qualify, applicants must have net assets of at least $100,000 CAD and possess a minimum of two years of experience as a self-employed professional in their intended field of practice in Quebec.

Quebec Self-Employed Program

The Quebec Self-Employed Workers Program offers a route for those with a background in self-employment to immigrate to Quebec and start their own business. Successful applicants can secure a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) through this program, which then allows them to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Criteria that must be met for program:

  • You must operate independently or collaborate with others, with or without paid assistance.
  • Prohibited sectors include payday loans, cheque cashing, pawn broking, pornography, sex industry services, and real estate.
  • You need at least two years of self-employed experience within the last five years, excluding work in restricted sectors.
  • For regulated professions, you must have authorization to practice in Quebec or have your qualifications recognized by the relevant regulatory authority.
  • You must have a minimum net worth of CAD 100,000, excluding any donations received in the six months before applying. This amount can be shared with your spouse.
  • Provide proof of the legal origin and accumulation of your net worth and that of your spouse, even if their assets are not required to meet the minimum net worth requirement.
  • Hold a diploma equivalent to a Quebec secondary school diploma obtained before submitting your application.
  • Demonstrate French language proficiency at least at Level 7 on the Quebec Scale.
  • Make a startup deposit with a Quebec financial institution: CAD 25,000 if outside the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) or CAD 50,000 if within the CMM.
  • Sign a financial self-sufficiency agreement to support yourself, your family members, and any Canadian citizen children for three months after receiving permanent resident status.
  • Obtain a certificate of knowledge of democratic and Quebec values.
